Our Story

Our Beginning...

Christ Presbyterian Church in Newnan was originally planted out of Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Peachtree City, GA. A core group began meeting in October of 1996 to pray and plan for a new church in the Newnan/Sharpsburg area.  Bob Orner was called as the planting pastor in July of 1998 and our first public worship service was held in March of 1999.

In the years that followed, CPC developed an identity as a welcoming fellowship dedicated to growing in Christ and supporting missions throughout the world.

The Winding Road to Where We Are...

Throughout much of our 25+ year history, we have often felt like nomads without a home, but the Lord has continued to sustain and grow us in our dependence on Him as we followed His call to be a light for Christ in Newnan.  We have held worship services in schools and storefronts, and even spent time holding services at 5pm at Christ the King Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg.

In 2012, we were given the opportunity to worship at and eventually buy our prior location at 53 Country Club Road (formerly Zion Lutheran). While this location served us well for many years, God blessed our church body so that we outgrew our space and needed a new place of worship.

In November 2018, Drew Archer was called by a unanimous vote of the congregation to begin serving as our third senior pastor in January 2019.

In September of 2023, God opened the door for us to worship at 2331 US-29 (formerly Jones Chapel Methodist) in the Madras area. In 2024, God blessed us with the opportunity and ability to purchase the property as our new permanent home.

While we celebrate God's faithfulness and provision, we know that our property is just one tool of many we have been given as a church for the purpose of serving Christ and His Kingdom.
