How it all started...
Christ Presbyterian Church is a relatively young church. Our story began when a family from Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City, GA had a desire to plant a church in the Newnan/East Coweta County area. In October of 1996 this Group began to meet, pray and plan for the new church. Bob and Chris Orner were called to be the organizing pastor in July of 1998. We held our first public worship service in March of 1999. In December 2009, Bob resigned as the Lead Pastor and has received a call to minister with Global Church Advancement.
In December 2010, Jayme Sickert was called as the pastor after serving in an interim capacity for several months. After years of faithful service, Jayme honorably retired at the end of 2018.
Expanding the vision...
Throughout much of our 20 years as a church, we have often felt like nomads, but the Lord has continued to sustain and bless us. We have held worship services in schools and storefronts, and even spent time holding services at 5pm at Christ the King Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg. Then in 2012, we were given the opportunity to begin holding morning services at our last location, which was formerly Zion Lutheran Church. In July 2024, God opened the door for us to purchase our current location in the Madras area, which was formerly Jones Chapel United Methodist Church.
Where we are headed...
In November 2018, Drew Archer was called by a unanimous vote of the congregation to begin serving as senior pastor in January 2019. Drew comes to CPC after serving as assistant pastor at Ponce Presbyterian Church in midtown Atlanta.
We find ourselves at an exciting moment in the life of our church as we consider the ways in which the Lord is leading and directing us. We have a wonderful fellowship of believers and are prayerfully considering next steps for our community in terms of our current property. We trust that the Lord will make our next steps clear according to his perfect timing.
